How It All Started...
I discovered Nature’s Loft when I started my journey looking for a place to find balance in my life. My husband Jeff and I were riding around the Ozarks with a realtor looking at properties near the Buffalo River. I was raised in the Ozarks but moved away for college. A husband, demanding career, 5 children and 6 grand babies later, I found myself longing for my first home. The search led me to this beautiful, magical place.

The Hunt for Healing
The stress of everyday life and some personal changes had finally caught up with me and I was spiraling down into a place I did not want to be. I knew one way to help me heal and find balance was to find solitude, peace, beauty, and a place that felt like home — a place that took me away from everything that was familiar but at the same time rekindled what I knew to be familiar.
So off we go. Traveling back roads and remote parts of the Buffalo River area looking for my happy place, I knew I would know if it was the perfect place the minute I stepped on the property — and that is exactly what happened.
As we drove down a beautiful, remote narrow gravel road called Tomahawk Slab Rd, about four miles from Gilbert, AR and the Buffalo River, we crossed a creek. The Start of Our New Journey
We drove up the drive, and there sat an old run-down shack and a double-wide trailer. I stepped out of the car and knew immediately I found where I needed to be. The energy of the place was such a breath of fresh air. I could feel myself decompressing and the feeling of peace was overwhelming.
My husband and I walked the property and loved it. We wanted to put in an offer but got the sad news the property was under contract. I went home deflated, defeated, and hopeless, and I put my search on hold for six months.
One Sunday morning a thought came to my mind to look at property in Searcy County. I pulled up a realtor website and the very first property showing was a new listing — the same property I desperately wanted six months earlier. I was in disbelief. I immediately called the realtor. She answered at 8 am on a Sunday morning. I put in an offer and we closed about a month later.
So began my journey. My husband and I started transforming the property into my happy place. We tore down the old shack and turned the double-wide into a precious little farmhouse. I was in love. I gulped in the peace, beauty, and magical healing power my happy place brought me. After a few months I had found my balance again. Not long into my journey, I knew I wanted to share my happy place with others. Over the years I added a few more unique places for couples and families to enjoy while visiting the Ozarks.
So Nature's Loft was born.
Sharing This Special Place
The property, the creek, and the local area were food for my soul. As the saying goes, “Into the woods I go to lose my mind and find my soul.” That is exactly what I did. When I invited a friend after finishing the farmhouse, she immediately felt its relaxing energy as soon as she turned off the highway. I knew the place was special, and when it had such a positive effect on my friends and family, I knew I needed to share it.
I approached my husband with the idea of sharing our special place. People need its healing power, so Nature’s Loft was born. I had the perfect surroundings — now I needed the perfect dwellings. I wanted guests to have the ultimate comforts. Nature’s Loft was to be a retreat.
It was important that our guests had all the comforts of home with luxurious amenities. Nature’s Loft is a labor of love, and it shows in each of our Tree Lofts. I truly believe Nature’s Loft was meant for me and for my guests.
